Altadis USA Honduran Employees Add to Relief Efforts
Having endured more than their own fair share of natural disasters, the workers at La Flor de Copan, Altadis U.S.A.’s acclaimed cigar factory in Honduras, have come together to contribute thousands of dollars of theirhard-earned incomes to benefit Haiti’s earthquake victims. “We are extremely proud of our Honduras employees and touched by their generosity,” said an Altadis U.S.A. spokesperson. “These are very dedicated people who work hard for what they have.”The monies raised in Honduras will be matched by the Montecristo Relief Organization as part of its donation-matching program, with the goal of contributing over $250,000 to aid the victims of this latest disaster. All funds are going directly to Food for the Poor, which is providing immediate as well as ongoing relief to those in desperate need. Altadis U.S.A. founded the Montecristo Relief Organization in 1999 following two monster hurricanes thatdevastated much of the Caribbean. To date, the Organization has contributed millions to the building of homes, schools and medical facilities and provided scholarships and economic opportunities in affected areas.
