Hyams Out at CAO in at Gurkha

After more than thirty years in the cigar industry, executive Gary Hyams has been named, this week, as president and Chief Executive Officer of Beach Cigar Group, Inc. Beach Cigar is the parent of the well known Gurkha Cigars according to the company press release from spokesman Adam Handelsman. Among Hyams' previous accomplishments and postings, the release mentions the following:
Managing Director of Loretta Cigars London Ltd and having held the position of Managing Director of Henri Wintermans UK. More recently, Hyams served as Chairman of CAO International for the last four years (part of Scandinavian Tobacco Group, STG). Hyams has also been an advocate for the cigar industry, having sat on the Board of Directors of the Cigar Association of America (CAA) and was Chairman of the Imported Tobacco Products Advisory Council (ITPAC).
Hyams was equally effusive in his praise of Gurkha and its founder Kaizad Hansotia. “I think Kaizad has done a great job in creating such a unique brand in Gurkha, which has unlimited potential both here in the US and indeed globally." The company also indicated that it expects to release three new cigar lines at next months International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers Association trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
