Cigartainer Joe Sweigart Honored

In an e-mail, "Cigartainer" Joe Sweigart announces that, recently, he "was honored last week by Swing Magazine as a winner of this year’s Fabulous Over 50.  Other winners included the founders of Waffle House, the Exec. Dir. of Hosea Feed the Hungry and others much more important than me.  I tell folks that I ‘won’ just because I’m old and still kickin’ – LOL."

At 62, Joe Sweigart (a.k.a. Joe the
Cigartainer) has three rules for life:
1. Have fun.
2. Be safe, careful and conscious of
your surroundings—“Don’t do stupid
things (e.g., buy a house that you can’t
afford, or drink and drive).”
3. And, “Just be nice.”
He published his own book, Long
Ashes, Baby, where he explains the
mastery of what he calls “cigartaining,”
offering a sneak peak into his entertain-
ing experience, teaching people about
the art of rolling premium cigars. Joe’s
next book, Customer Service, Person to
Person, focuses on what he considers
his specialty and business philosophy.
His expertise is prevalent in his suc-
cessful business. Joe took a premium
product business (cigars) that was on
62
the verge of bankruptcy and turned it
into a unique advertising concept. “Now,
I go to parties for a living,” he says.
First he created the character Joe
the Cigartainer, who wears a Cuban
hat. “It’s an image, for the business.
I consider myself a teacher first, and
then an entertainer,” he says.
