La Aurora Cien Anos Lancero

Through a press release from company spokesman Rene Castañeda, Miami Cigars announces the new "in" size of
La Aurora's Cien Años blend.

MIAMI FL -- Miami Cigar & Company, the exclusive distributor for La Aurora brands in the United States, announces the release of the last of the highly rated Cien Años blend cigars from La Aurora.  The new Lancero (6 7/8 x 40) with the Cien Años blend will ship in boxes of 25 with a suggested individual retail price of $11, plus any local taxes.

The Cien Años line was launched in 2003 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of La Aurora – the oldest cigar maker in the Dominican Republic. The Cien Años line was a limited run with each cigar numbered to verify authenticity.  The sizes were a Number 4 corona, a Robusto, a Churchill and a Belicoso with the latter in 2005 scoring a 93 in Cigar Aficionado.

Consumer demand for the blend was enormous.  The Number 4 was the first to sell out.  José Blanco, Sales Director for La Aurora, says, “The Number 4 in the Cien Años line has always been my favorite.  I like the way the blend comes together with the wrapper, binder and filler ratios and I think the Lancero gives the exact same taste but in a longer length.”  Nestor Miranda, President of Miami Cigar & Company, says, “Consumers have been asking for more of the Cien Años Blend and given the success of the line with the tobacco La Aurora had left, the Lancero seemed to be a fitting conclusion.”

The Cien Años project began years before its launch with Guillermo Léon – the head of La Aurora—putting aside Dominican Corojo wrapper for the special project.  The cigar is a Dominican puro, using the aged Corojo wrapper over aged Dominican Corojo and Piloto Cubano fillers.  Says Léon, “Cien Años is every cigar maker’s dream come true.”

Miranda points out this new Lancero is not officially part of the limited Cien Años line, but rather a new cigar using the Cien Años tobaccos.  There will only be 800 boxes of this one time release that is shipping to retailers now.
