Puros Indios Unveils New 2012 Series

When Miami-based Puros Indios, under the ownership of the Reyes Family and patriarch Don Rolando Reyes, make up their mind to bring new things to market, they do so in a big way. This year, Cigar Weekly has learned through correspondence with national marketing director Frank Santos, "Puros Indios Cigars announced today the unveiling of 3 new blends, to be released at the IPCPR in Las Vegas. "
The first offering will be "The Puros Indios “2012” Series which will be box-pressed and made in Miami under the close supervision of company President Carlos Diez, grandson of Rolando Reyes Sr. 'We secured some incredible tobacco out of Nicaragua that will allow us to create this special blend. Three sizes will be available; Robusto, Toro & Torpedo, with a suggested retail price between $7 & $9 dollars. We only use 3 cigar rollers at our Miami factory, and their daily output is limited to 100 cigars each." Diez states that with only 300 cigars produced daily, this cigar will be, by definition, quite limited in its availability.
According to the release, the first crop of tobacco from their own fields in Honduras, adjacent to their factory is ready for making cigars. This is something Don Rolando Reyes has dreamed of for years, comintg to fruition. It's the item Diez is most excited about, as well. "The Cuba Aliados Cabinet Selection is the second cigar we are debuting at the trade show. This is another unique blend because it contains tobacco from our first homegrown crop. My grandfather is ecstatic that we are finally able to grow our own tobacco, and this blend is a testament to a lifetime labor of love." According to Santos, all the tobacco grown on the Reyes' land, is sown from Cuban seed.
The Cuba Aliados Cabinet Selection will be available in the same three sizes as the new 2012 Series, Robusto, Toro & Torpedo, but there will be greater availability since these will be manufactured at the Puros Indios Factory in Danlí, Honduras. These will be available at a retail price between $6 and $7, In addition, these will be Honduran puros due to the fact that all the tobacco will be from their recently acquired fields.
The third new line will be the Cuba Aliados “Super Mazo.” "This is a value bundle being offered to big ring-gauge cigar lovers. We are offering bundles of cigars sized either 4x60, 5x60 or 6x60, at an average retail price of $3.00 per cigar." Santos indicates that the blend of the Super Mazo will contain tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.
Diez states: “I’m really excited to finally have these new cigars ready for our fellow cigar smokers. We usually don’t come out with new blends every year, but with the addition of our fairly new factory at our Miami office which we created a couple of years ago; plus the first crop that is ready from our own tobacco growing operation, it’s a great time for our company to continue to grow and prosper."
