Dos Familias

August 2010

These family names might not shine brightest in the firmament of the cigar world. Their names are not the leading lights on brands the average cigar smoker finds or seeks upon walking into his tobacconist. But ask folks who pay more attention to the cigars they smoke, beyond the facings and frontmarks in tobacconist humidors, and you will get a knowing smile or nod of recognition.

Atladis spokesperson Janelle Rosenfeld's press release concerning the new brand of cigars from these two families is presented below. The Dos Familias was introduced to retailers and the cigar-buying public this month in New Orleans at the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show.

It might be compared to Bach and Beethoven collaborating on a symphony. Two legendary cigar families have combined their prodigious skills to create one awesome cigar. Dos Familias – Two Families – by Ortez y Turrent.

The Omar Ortez family quietly grows tobaccos found in many highly regarded cigars and crafts some of Nicaragua’s finest smokes. Alejandro Turrent is the fifth generation of the world’s oldest and most highly esteemed family of cigar makers and tobacco growers. Their tobaccos are prized by makers of the most prestigious cigars.

Handcrafted in Nicaragua, and featuring a hand-selected San Andrés Criollo wrapper, Dos Familias is a beautifully constructed cigar, loaded with intense, richly satisfying flavor - the culmination of the artistry and experience of two renowned cigar families.

Dos Familias by Ortez y Turrent is available in five sizes:
Corona,
Robusto,
Toro,
Belicoso
and Churchill.
Suggested retail prices range from $5.50 to $7.50. The new cigar will ship to retailers in August
