The Pittsburgh Wine Festival and Pete Hanowich of the Chaine des Rotisseurs partner to present a new yearlong program of wine seminars and tastings!

The Pittsburgh Wine Festival is proud to partner with Pete Hanowich of the Chaine des Rotisseurs Bailliage de Pittsburgh to present unique and informative wine seminars at every interest level-- from beginner to intermediate to collector’s fantasy wine events. The yearlong program will commence during Pittsburgh Wine Festival Week.

How to Get the Most Out of the Pittsburgh Wine Festival
Tuesday, April 29, 2008. 6-7 p.m. (Doors open at 5:30pm) Sheraton Station Square. $50 per person

You bought your ticket(s), you step out of the elevator, they hand you a book and a glass. Before you are 200+ wineries pouring over 500 wines. You have 3 to 4 hours to enjoy. But which do you choose and why? Where do you start? You certainly cannot try them all.

Join us for a fun and informative session to maximize your enjoyment while attending this year’s Pittsburgh Wine Festival. We’ll share strategies and techniques for developing a Game Plan to have you get more from your time at the Pittsburgh Wine Festival.

We’ll also have a tasting of Chairman’s Select Wines to allow you to “try before you buy.” After all, we can’t talk about a Wine Festival without a glass of wine in your hands!

Summer Wines are a selection of “Warm Weather Wines.” It will soon be approaching the peak of summer and you’ve got a lot of summer entertaining ahead of you. But what kind of unique wines will you serve? Try some New, Light Crisp Wines for your Summer Parties. Low cost interesting whites and reds for your guests and friends.

So come and enjoy a number of “Summer Wines.” Wines that your friends may not be familiar with. Affordable wines that you can use to impress your friends during your Summer Entertainment

Drink Wine Like a Sommelier

They are Sommeliers. Their life’s work is to buy, maintain and recommend the wines of the restaurant that they represent. But what set’s them apart from those of us who enjoy wines as an accompaniment with dinner?

Let Director of Wines and Spirits Jason Neff of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort share the behind the scenes workings of how a Sommelier’s wine experience differs from ours. Responsible for 26,000 bottles and over 2000 selections, come and experience the framework used when a Sommelier evaluates a wine.

Let’s face it, anyone can find a great wine if your budget is $200 per bottle. But how do we find all of those wonderful wines that are out there for those of us that are on a budget? What are those “Great Buy’s” that Restaurant Owners, Wholesale Wine Sales Folks and Industry Insider’s have encountered over the years?

We are collecting the favorites of many of those “in the know” wine insiders and will have them for you to try. Let us share wines that are a Bargain on your Budget but are Priceless on your Palate.
